Volunteer

Forgotten Felines of Forsyth always welcomes volunteers to help with trapping and transport, become colony caretakers, work at our spay/neuter clinics, and/or help with outreach and fundraising.

Have a look at the descriptions below to see where you might like to donate your time, efforts and abilities to help community cats in Forsyth County.

If you are interested in volunteering, email us at FFFinfo@gmail.com

Colony Caretaker

Caretakers do more than simply feeding community cats.  They:

  • provide food, water and shelter for colony daily,

  • make sure all cats in colony are spayed/neutered

  • make arrangements for trapping at colony as need arises

  • monitor for health and/or injuries

  • maintain records on colony members

  • advocate for the colony as necessary.

Primary colony caretakers must be willing to commit to their colony long term. Substitute caretakers are also needed if you can't commit to being a primary caretaker.

Community Cat Trapper/Transporter

Volunteers are needed to help with the TNR process by

  • trapping,

  • providing transportation to and from the vet,

  • sheltering/recovering cats after surgery.

You may volunteer for any or all of these activities.

Anchor 1

Veterinarians do all the surgery and administer vaccines at our monthly spay/neuter clinic.   We need volunteers for all other tasks including:

  • cleaning the facility prior to and after a clinic,

  • weighing cats,

  • determining gender,

  • administration of anesthesia,

  • prepping cats for surgery,

  • drawing up vaccinations,

  • ear cleaning/notching,

  • monitoring of anesthetized cats, transporting cats prepped for surgery to the operating room,

  • post operative recovery of cats,

  • completing paperwork on veterinary procedures performed on each cat,

  • laundering towels and surgical drapes,

  • cleaning and packaging surgical instrument for sterilization.

You may volunteer for any or all of these activities.

Clinics are held on Sunday morning, once a month, typically lasting from about 7:30 am to 12:00 pm.

Fundraisers

A large portion of our funding comes from the efforts of volunteer fundraisers.  There are many things you can do to help us raise money:

  • come up with ideas for raising money

  • plan and organize fundraisers

  • volunteer for a shift at one of our fundraisers

  • bake items for sale at one of our bake sales
