What is Forgotten Felines of Forsyth? Forgotten Felines of Forsyth is an all-volunteer, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, committed to humanely reducing the feral and stray cat population in Forsyth and surrounding counties through a low-cost Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program. We rely entirely on fund-raisers and donations from the public to keep our program running.FFF was founded in 2004 by five concerned citizens of the Forsyth County area. These founding members had been involved in rescue and foster of cats for years. They saw that the need for homes for cats never seemed to let up, and that many of the calls for assistance involved kittens that were produced by feral mother cats. The people who caught the kittens were not able to catch the mother cats to have them spayed, so the cycle continued. The FFF founders decided that the situation would not improve unless fewer cats were born. With assistance from the Greensboro Feral Cat Assistance Program (FCAP), the founders learned how to trap feral cats and operate a monthly clinic, and FFF was born.
What is Trap-Neuter-Return? Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is an effective, internationally recognized program to reduce, and eventually eliminate, feral cat colonies. Cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies and feline distemper, treated for ear mites and fleas, receive a left ear notch, and are returned to their original location. In a TNR program, a feral cat colony caretaker feeds the cats on a daily basis and takes them to a veterinarian if they require medical assistance. The resultant group of cats, including any new cats entering the caretakers sphere, is known as a managed feral cat colony.
Spay-Neuter Program FFF holds a low-cost spay/neuter clinic once a month. We also work with several area veterinarians who are willing to sterilize feral cats at a reduced rate. FFF Does: FFF Does Not:
